- THE FUERTEVENTURA REGION AND CORRALEJO AREA -
FUERTEVENTURA - Meaning literally "strong wind", Fuerteventura's coastline is famous for its ideal windsurfing and kiteboarding conditions. The island, famous for its miles of white sand beaches and aquamarine waters, is less populated than its neighbours with most of the inhabitants living in the capital of Puerto del Rosario. However it is the second biggest island in the Canaries, only slightly smaller than Tenerife and the island has many unpopulated landscapes including the rippling sand dunes along the north east coast, making this an ideal visit if you are looking for peace and tranquillity.

Unlike Tenerife and Gran Canaria, tourism developments are a lot slower on Fuerteventura, the two main resorts happen to be at opposite ends of the island. Corralejo in the north has a bustling town centre with plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. In the south of the island is Morro Jable. Once a small fishing village, it is now popular with German tourists and offers some of the best sandy beaches in the whole of the Canaries.
CORRALEJO
- Situated on the northern tip of the island, Corralejo is the biggest and
busiest resort on Fuerteventura. Once a working fishing town, it has
become one of the most popular destinations in the Canaries. With
fantastic year round sunshine and perfect windsurfing conditions,
Corralejo is where it’s at. People come from afar to view the
rolling
sand dunes and magnificent beaches. Whilst in the town centre
there is a large surplus of hotels, banks, cafes, shops, bars,
supermarkets and restaurants to choose from. Also there is a new bowling
alley open in Corralejo, which is great fun.
Water sports –
Go on a snorkel safari to Lobos Island and pay a visit to the Dolphins,
Turtles and Rays. Other water sports consist of deep-sea diving, surfing,
windsurfing, kiteboarding, scuba diving and much more. Recently opened in
Corralejo the Baku water park.
Add a little luxury to your holiday
and set sail to the beautiful island of Lanzarote on a luxurious
catamaran. A visit to the Island of Lobos on a glass bottom boat is
a must.
